Some of the most commonly seen, vividly-colored and easily photographed birds on the estate are Blue-crowned Motmots, Emerald Toucanets, Thick-billed Euphonias, Palm Tanagers, Flame-colored Tanagers, Blue-gray Tanagers, Silver-throated Tanagers, Bay-headed Tanagers, Crimson-backed Tanagers, Orange-billed Nightingale Thrush, Red-legged Honeycreepers, Chestnut-Capped Brush Finches,Yellow-throated Brush Finches, Buff-throated Saltators, Rufus-Tailed Hummingbirds and Violet Sabrewing Hummingbirds. Bat Falcons, Laughing Falcons, Double-toothed Kites and American Swallowtail kites are seen many months of the year. Many species of migratory birds winter at the hotel. From October through to February, we regularly see Summer Tanagers, Baltimore Orioles, Streak-backed Orioles and many warblers. Based on multiple sightings by ourselves and hotel guests, we have compiled a comprehensive bird list of over 130 species.
Many thanks to dear friend and extraordinary naturalist, Dan Wade, for these magnificent pictures all taken around the bungalows.
